Hi Gareth. Thank you for another great video. If the Aldi Lamb Shanks are the same as we get here in Australia they are gorgeous. The first time I tried them I used the microwave and they came out a little tough. Second time and since then I just put the whole sealed bag in a large pot of water on low heat and let it slowly come to a bare simmer, then turn off the heat and let it rest in the pot of water for about 20 minutes. This came out so tender and perfect, it was amazing with a good serving of mashed potato. Take care mate.

How many people smiled when you said it's been ages since you had lamb shank? Joking apart, the meat on a lamb shank is wonderful. If I cook a leg of lamb when my daughter's here, we almost fight over who gets the shank meat.

In 1984 I moved to a small village which had a marvellous butchers. Frank the butcher, like most butchers, used to virtually give lamb shanks away, as there was little call for them. Then, a couple of years or so later, a bloody TV chef discovered lamb shanks and suddenly they went up in price by about 2 - 300%. I still love them, but there's not a lot of meat on most of them.

They looked absolutely delicious, perfect with mashed potatoes.
I do a mid-week shop at my local Aldi, next time I'm in I will check them out.
However, when you said they were £6.75 I went right off the idea.
Unfortunately, being a pensioner my weekly shopping budget won't include them I'm afraid far too expensive.

Lamb shanks ❤ I like the red wine rosemary and red currant jus, also in any Greek restaurant Kleftico 👍🏻 slow cooked in oregano, delicious 😃

Great video it's been about 40 years since I had a lamb shank then it was boiled in a pan no microwaves then.. and also there were pork shanks and lamb shanks back and front legs ..

Who doesn't love a shank served with mash and peas every now and then.
These Aldi variety lamb shanks are quite popular here in Australia too.
And what's really good about them is they're in seperate bags.
Have a go at cooking some, in the ninja pressure cook or slow cook. I've used both methods with success.
Meat falls from the bone.

Lamb. My favourite meat. Mint sace and red wine gravy also. Even those Aldi lamb shanks look delicious.

My Mrs and son enjoyed those during lockdown...I'm not a lamb fan...it smelled nice while cooking.

We've had those before and really enjoyed them. I'm pretty sure the last time we had them one of the cooking options was boil in the bag.

I've been looking at these in Aldi for a few week but thought it would be mainly bone and it looks like i'm right. I would need both of them for one meal just to have enought meat for me

Another great review Gareth, the lamb shanks looked delicious. How about trying ox tail, there's different ways to cook it so you might get advice from the internet. 👍
