Bored of the usual leg of lamb on a Sunday afternoon? Check out my best lamb shank recipe, showing you how to cook it in the oven along with a lovely, glossy sauce as well.

This can also be done in the slow cooker by transferring the Lamb from the casserole instead of cooking them in the oven.

Ingredients (Serves 2 | Prep time: 25m Cooking time: 125m | 613 calories & 27g fat p/serving):

- 2 Lamb Shanks
- 2 tbsp Tomato Puree
- 2 Onions
- 2 Garlic Cloves
- 2 Carrots
- 2 Sprigs of Rosemary
- 1 Beef stock cube
- 1 tbsp Plain Flour
- 200ml Red Wine
- Oil (to fry)

I've made this recipe the other night and it came out perfect. I skipped the wine (added plain water) and the beef stock(added salt & red/black pepper) and didn't have any fresh rosemary. Yet I followed the steps and I liked the taste very much. Thank u so much for sharing this with us. God bless!

i tried this recipe, was my first time cooking lamb ever and it was a hit! so tasty and easy. instead of transferring the pot in the oven though i just kept it simmering on a low heat for hour and half. thank you so much for this great recipe!

made it once already - added some potatoes and used packed rosemary - and i love root veg so i used half a turnip as well in addition and celery - having it again tonight, its a great recipe thank you so much

I made this tonight and it was outstanding. I didn't need to thicken the sauce at the end. I added parsnips as well as carrots. It was absolutely delicious. I served it on top of cheesy polenta with a glass of pinot noir.

I picked up some Lamb shanks on the reduced isle at the supermarket the other night. Looked up this recipe and it was so simple to follow. Only I used dry herbs instead of fresh. Really easy to make and full of flavour, will make it again, cheers Warren!
