In a Shostakovich cello concerto the horn is almost like a second soloist, the pieces would fall apart without their strong presence, and unfortunately one of the horns was not fully involved... maybe the orchestra didn't have much time to prepare.
But the soloist is incredible her sensibility is somehow even better than in her other recordings available. Sol Gabetta you made me fall in love with the cello ❤️

What an awesome and unique interpretation, this has to be my favourite version of this concerto! There used to be another video recording of Sol Gabetta playing this piece with the Frankfurt Radio Orchestra, but it seems to be lost. If anybody has it, please tell me! I really hope I find it again one day...

Feels like somebody's forcing you to weep all the time. Suffering is everywhere. But where is the sorrow? How will you heal from all the wounds and purify your emotional traumas? You try to remember what was a thin beacon of light like while surrounded by this utter bottomless darkness. The search will go on but can you find it eventually?
