A norwegian guy once said:
"The scandinavian languages a really only one language,
but the swedes cant write it and the danes cant speak it!"
(I do agree.)

The development of the English language was influenced by Old Norse a language that was spoken in all of Scandinavia. Modern English descends from another Germanic language called Old English. For a few centuries before the Norman Conquest in 1066, speakers of Old English had a lot of contact with Norse speakers (Vikings)

This video is probably most fun for people who understand at least one of the Scandinavian languages. Any entertainment value for people who cannot speak any of the Scandinavian languages is to see how much the three participants can understand what is being said (not necessarily to understand it for themselves), and not least understand that the languages are very similar. This is probably most interesting for people who have a great interest in Scandinavia, who have friends from one of the countries or who come from one of the neighboring countries, for example the Netherlands or Germany. It is probably also more interesting for people from England than America because they are exposed to other Germanic languages.
Whether Scandinavians can understand each other depends entirely on how much we have exposed ourselves to the languages - for Norwegians and Swedes this means how much we have either been to Denmark or have watched Danish TV, listened to Danish music and the like. Reading Danish is very easy, since it is almost the same as Norwegian.

For sure they can. Norwegian and Swedish is more similar to each other than danish. But we can still understand each other. In my opinion it’s difficult to understand finnish but some peoples can do that.

This was still fun to watch, the guessing game )). But if you wanna understand more, you have to dive into our different languages. Usually enjoyable when you get to the ÆØÅ, although Y & other pronunciation stuff can confuse any English speaking people too...All the best from Denmark ❤
