3 practical ways to prepare for a natural birth

If I was preparing for a natural birth for the first time these are the THREE practical things I would be doing.

1. Moving in a way that helps baby have the space to move into the OPTIMAL POSITION for birth. This varies for every individual woman and her body, however the optimal position is usually thought of as anterior and head first.

2. Learn how to breathe and tolerate uncomfortable sensations in the body. While you can't practise how you'll cope during contractions of the uterus (which is what labour pain is), you can practise other difficult sensations in the body.

3. Desensitise yourself to birth. Listen, watch and read as many positive birth stories as you can. And for the record "positive" doesn't only mean natural births without interventions. In some cases interventions are essential for the health of baby and Mum. Learn about what can happen during birth so you're more prepared when you're experiencing it for the first time.

Thank you for another great video! Do you have any advice for coping with anxiety over giving birth at a hospital? I trust my body in that I can have a natural unmedicated birth but I get stressed out about the support at the hospital.
