If you have 2 cards by the same company, Can you take the balance from one and put it on the other one thereby closing out 1 of the accounts but keeping 1 open Without negatively impacting your credit. For example, if 1 card had $2000 & one has $1000 for a total of $3000, can you switch that to having $3000 on one card, thereby closing/ eliminating a card without negative credit score impact

Why bother, just shred the card and all subsequent card sent. Problem solved. No calling, no drop in your score.
