I saw one of these being flight tested when I went to Seattle recently. It was cool watching it take off from Boeing's airfield.

On the plus side, Emirates will now have to keep flying the A380 for much longer

Personally I think it's good for Boeing's long term future. They really need to focus on the certification of 737-10 and the 787 and repair their reputation and regain the trust in the industry. They shouldn't rush in to the 777X. They need to take the steps carefully and to the right direction. It' cuicial for the companies future. Slow and steady wins the race. Reliability and safely always comes first.

I work at Boeing Field where the flight test program is based and see these beautiful birds take off all the time. Where are they going? What are they doing? They've already been testing for nearly two years. I've been able to go through the entirety of primary flight training faster than Boeing can certify the 777X!

Boeing is really going through rough times in the past 4 years or so. It doesn't seem to be getting any better.

Man lots of delays with new equipment going on recently. I can tell that Clark doesn't like seeing it being pushed back again. Hopefully it doesn't happen again (most likely it will)

I empathize with all the carriers affected by the delay. It must have costed them millions of dollars or even more.

As for he delay, i feel it swings both ways the business side of things - the delay gives the carriers heavily hit by the pandemic time to circulate the cashflow on other corporate expenditures while waiting for the plane. On the otherhand, airlines who have already defined their fleet replacement timeline that centers around this groundbreaking plane are quite frankly, screwed.

If this delay will ensure the safety of the plane, then I hope it's worth all the wait. A catastrophe of a higher scale might seal the fate of Boeing. They should and they ought to do it right this time around. As the saying goes, haste makes waste. We cannot afford to lose innocent lives anymore.

Boeing has no one to blame but itself for its woes. Too bad the workers rather than the C-suite executives, who are overflowing with stock options and juicy retirement packages, will be paying the price… and the 737 MAX victims.

The 777X is almost a competition to the Berlin-Brandenburg Airport (BER), when it comes to delays 😂

5 years later than originally planned, we should've been seeing plenty of 777Xs in service by now but we're still nowhere near that point yet.

Called that one long ago. Boeing cheaped out on conception and construction of planes for so long now, that they simply forgot how to build a proper one. But things beeing as they are, they know that the FAA won't accept anything else. At this point, I don't think Boeing will survive this without further support by the government. They literally burn all their ressources trying to fix their mistakes in conception and construction of the 737 and 787 models...at the same time, Airbus is winning without even trying. They made their homework and made it proper. Good things come to those who build good planes...

Personally, I can't wait to see 777x into service. It has been difficult times for Boeing after 737 max accident. Hopefully Boeing management increase its safety priorities into the maximum, restore its reputation and make our wait for the 777x worth it.

In unrelated news, Airbus shares have reached an all time high following this announcement

Airlines should be saying hello to an Airbus A350-1000 assuming Airbus comes clean and not scaly (pun intended lol) out of their court case with Qatar.

Certification you say. Hmm.... not surprising given how cutting corners is what has gotten Boeing in trouble in the first place

I am sad to see it delayed, but I have seen it take off and land a few times at BFI, so atleast I can say I saw it pre launch in 2022.
You win some, you lose some.
