Pontoon boat repair (Part 8) Troubleshooting 1989 Johnson 40 HP VRO. Carbs Linkage reeds adjustments
Показать описание
Troubleshooting the 89 40VRO outboard that will not idle good, so I adjusted the linkage, removed carbs, adjusted floats which one was upside down, saw a bolt in the reed plate, removed reed plates, thermostat missing, adjusted idle. It is still not 100% but runs so much better.
1:08 Test run
4:59 Cover boat
5:24 Suggested seat mold cleaners
8:26 Linkage adjustment settings
16:00 remove carbs
26:15 Remove reed plate
I must be totally insane to pick up another boat project, but I guess it's in my blood. This one is a 1989 Lowe 189 (18' 9”) with a Johnson 40hp VRO loopcharged small gearcase and a standard boat trailer (not for pontoon). It was in a super hard spot to retrieve it from too, thankfully I own a Jeep Wrangler with big tires or I would have never gotten it out of where it was! The last boat I restored was a Bayliner weekender 24 foot, I converted it from an I/O to an outboard. Cleaned it up put a lot of hours into it then nobody in my family was interested so I sold it... So why did I buy another project? I already have a SeaDoo jet boat which I totally rebuilt the engine. I also have a Seadoo Jetski SP800 that I rebuilt the engine on too. Guess I am a glutton for punishment... NAH, I just love buying cheap shit and turning it into something. Something somebody else totally gave up on and left for junk. I get a good feeling inside, it's like a quest, so long as the project is not to the point of costing a fortune over what the worth of the thing is!
This keeps the links for all the parts more accurate. These I use and install on ALL my videos. I do not sell any of the items listed.
