This Expanding Pontoon Boat Doubles in Size When In Water (2xMarine)

The expanding pontoon boat is called the 2xMarine, and when it's back to fully contracted it'll fit onto any standard pontoon trailer.
It makes the perfect party pontoon. It measures 17.5 feet wide when fully expanded, and just 8.5 feet wide when fully closed.

I’ve been working on designing my own expanding pontoon boat for the past couple years and I’m getting close to finishing the design and starting construction. I’d love to see how their design works. It could influence my design and might save me from making a mistake.

Until mechanical failure hits and you can’t collapse it to get it on the trailer. Seems to me like a novelty. To many moving parts to not have issue. Constant issues I’d imagine.

8 and a half feet wide, so oversized permits are required to trailer it. (If caught.) I wonder how strong it is in rougher water or the wind. Cool idea though.
