In this video we unpack the standard Webasto North American Gasoline Air Top 2000 STC 5012558B kit side by side with the popular Russian kit that is sold via multiple online platforms. See the differences for yourself and be informed before you spend your money!
The Russian kit in this video is extremely popular with affiliate marketers embedding monetized links in their blogs and video's pointing to Amazon and Ebay in an effort to earn money through sales.
DIYers investigating how to install a Webasto gasoline heater often have questions about the differences, which we point out here.
**It is important to note that even though Russia and EAEU member countries are European countries, this heater & kit is assembled by Webasto specifically for delivery to EAEU member countries and is not the same as a standard European kits supplied to reputable dealers in other European countries. The Russian EAEU kits have the void warranty from Webasto if exported (mostly via Amazon, Ebay and other ecommerce avenues), whereas the standard European kits carry a standard Webasto warranty. In general, North American kits and kits from any European country are not completely compatible. We highly recommend that you purchase your heater kit from your local Webasto Authorized Distributor to avoid any Warranty issues of this sort.**
Webasto heaters are very suitable for those engaged in overlanding and Vanlife adventures that need reliable off grid heat with low power consumption.

Heads up, the Russian kit is not the same as the European kit. EAEU (Eurasian Economic Union) only covers Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia. Kits sold in European Union member states have a CE-marking on them, and in future UK kits will have a UKCA-marking as the CE-marking is being phased out.

I have an AirTop evo55 Russian kit. It didn’t come with a muffler, i think i may have got the intake silencer separately too. Only problem i had is i bought some smartemp 2.0 thermostat and it doesn’t seem to match the wiring harness on my AT evo55, so I’m stuck with the rheostat. As constructive criticism- Video is a little slow paced, i only made it 4 minutes, would have liked to see a summary of the differences between the two models where i don’t have to watch the entire unboxing and explaining every little thing in each box. Could be summarized in a minute…

For you to say that it's a "personal comfort opinion" when talking about "quiet" air intake silencer is a very LAME attempt at saying the Russian kit is a WAY BETTER DEAL. Hell, you can buy two Russian kits for the price of your one.

So, in summary, the Russian kit is vastly cheaper, and it also comes with way less unnecessary (/precautionary) literal garbage...

I'm not 100% sure which company I'll go with but I know I'm going for the gasoline model over the diesel, just a lot easier and cheaper in the long run to tie into my gas tank versus having two separate fuels and have to make a new location for another fuel tank sure cost more but I think in the long run it'll pay for itself

Yeah, I bought the Russian kit... totally had to have Russian mechanics install it in my Sprinter for me. 🤣
