Welcome to the beautiful and historic @BaileysonPalomar Baileys on Palomar Resort, nestled deep in the San Diego mountains! In this exciting video, we put the Ubiquiti U7 Outdoor access point to the ultimate test by attempting to send a Wi-Fi signal 700 feet across a serene lake.

🌐 What's Inside:

Testing the Ubiquiti U7 Outdoor: We explore the capabilities of Ubiquiti's latest AP featuring a built-in sector "super antenna" designed for long-range Wi-Fi transmission.

Starlink Mini in Action: Using the Starlink Mini satellite internet as our sole internet source in this remote location.

Anker 767 Powerhouse: Discover how we power our entire setup—including the Starlink Mini, Unifi Cloud Gateway Max, and U7 Pro—with the massive 2000Wh Anker 767 battery.

Speed Tests & Results: Watch as we achieve impressive speeds of up to 145 Mbps, even 900 feet away across the lake!

Set one up for an outdoor medical fair last week and the uppers just needed Wi-Fi about 100-150 feet away from our exterior building. That unit pumped it across our entire property into the field about 500 feet away. Just a slick piece of kit.

I made this exact change you did hardware wise. My system is backed with a 1gb up/down fiber connection but am able now with the u7 outdoor to blast that through a heavily wooded area 300' to my front yard. The AC mesh with the direction antenna did ok but this is far more powerful and has enabled me to not have to run a solar powered AC mesh in my front yard to get consistent speeds over 200mbps

Very cool. I want one. *lol* Unfortunately, I just checked, and they're sold out.

Thanks for the video.

Lakes are very well known to be great environments foe WiFi. Over land not so much.

Hi, I have a question. Can U7 outdoor be used in mesh mode? Just supply power to U7 outdoor via PoE adapter without connect it to any network switch. The U7 outdoor will have to mesh with other access points in the network to provide internet access.

Do you know how much power the U7 uses? I checked their website but can’t find any power information.

How’s the connection when it rains or snows?

So, it blasts the signal in the direction its logo is facing? Does it still provide _some_ connectivity on the sides and behind?

you should do a local speed test with laptop to see actual speeds with iPerf

Would love to have seen how far you could push the signal for speed and at the limit for text comms in case of emergencies etc... also wondering what the signal area breadth is.

An impressive performance if U7!

Just wondering if you have to force U7 to use the ghz wide band channels or these a selected automatically?

Good test, would be interesting to see whether you were connected to 2.4 or 5GHz and what the RSSI was that far away for both frequencies. Nice work
