Paula Black had cancer and her Dr. gave her 6 months to live. She changed her diet to mostly fruits and vegetables, and juicing was a major component (sometimes she'd lightly steam her vegetables/oatmeal for breakfast). Plenty of water, quit her stressful job. After 15 months, she was totally cancer free, and she never opted for chemo/radiation. Her book is "Life, Cancer, and God".

This is great ☺️ We don’t have to be 100% anything… a little flexibility and doing the best we can really goes a long way 🙌🏾

I love how you say you "supplement" your raw diet with some cooked foods. I have the same philosophy. I tried to stay fully raw without beans for the longest time, but there was just too much research showing me how important beans are for nutrition. I don't like sprouted beans, so cooked beans it is. The idea of giving into the dogma of being fully raw is a type of disordered thinking, in my opinion. I still consider myself to be a raw vegan too, because like you, about 90% of my diet is raw. 100% health is a great way to describe it.

I follow Medical Medium's guidelines and I'm 80% raw. I feel better than when I was 100% raw. Also mentally for me it helped with the sense of balance.

You don't have to overly explain yourself to folks John; it's your life and your health. You are an inspiration to many, including myself; Thanks.

So this is the disturbance in the force that I felt. You made so many vegans happy, and so many angry. In the end what matters is that you do what's best for you. The only thing I can say is keep up the good work and stay healthy.

I love that you are honest and open to changing your perspective when you feel it's right for you. Respect to you.

Whenever I go back to eating cooked food, it's a slippery slope for me, and pretty soon I'm adding salt, then fat, because cooked food doesn't taste good without seasonings...and then grains & beans and then fake meats and cheeze...yeah, I just can't do it. I feel BEST when I eat fruit. Best of luck to you John.

I am glad to see you doing this! It is confirmation for me. I have kept tabs with you since 2005 and you are one of the few I that I listen to. It's all about getting the best out of the plants we eat. We cannot eat all plants the way they are when we harvest them, and get the most nutrients out of them. Soaking, sprouting, lactofermenting, drying, freezing, infusing, ripening, heating, and cooling (like potatoes gain resistant starch when heated then cooled) each plant food is unique and we have to understand them individually. Kind of like humans. We are each unique and have different qualities that sometimes need to have certain processes externally put on us to bring out the best in us. I have TRULY enjoyed all the information you have thoughtfully shared over the years. A big THANKYOU from me. You have inspired and kept me motivated numerous times.

I LOVE that you aren't following trends or sticking to a specific diet for dogma or because of personal belief. I really appreciate that you go by what the science says. You're not emotional about what your food, you use food as a tool for your health and I feel like so many have lost that concept.

I feel amazing on raw when I'm getting adequate amounts of fruit calories. If I dont get at least 2000 cals a day from fruit alone I always end up wantting cooked food. Papaya and mango I have found to be crucial also. I find in the northern hemisphere I end up eating a meal of bananas, a meal of dates in a smoothie, and a meal of oranges beofre my big salad and have to have a little flax often to help keep my omega 3 and 6 ratios 1:1. Papaya has equal omega 3/6 ratio and is really high in vitamin c. Dates lack c and fat. I think trying to be all raw in northern hemisphere when we cant have access to affordable or high quality papaya and mango makes it difficult.

Hi John. Eggplants, squash, and mushrooms were why I couldn’t go 100% raw foods. I have been following you for years on YouTube and I appreciate your transparency and how you communicate your study of food research. Thanks.

Paul stamets said that mushrooms should be boiled at a least 60 seconds because of the pathogens on the surface. Some mushrooms can make you sick unless cooked first, like shitake. I once had a big portion of raw shitake at Au Lac restaurant made by the raw vegan chef and I got nauseous all night.

Love you more for sharing your raw-food journey in all honesty and transparency. My family has benefited immensely from "raw-plant-based-wholefood" since 2005, some years pure raw and some high raw. Our focus is also pro-health and minimum compact lifestyle, and keep an open-minded.

A lot of people also don’t speak about the health of our mothers when they carried us and what we were fed in the early years of our lives which play a huge role in our health as we continue to get older

Your health from the time you were conceived until 18 plays a huge role and cultivates your relationship with food when you leave

There should be extensive nutrition classes for those who want children / are already pregnant that extend beyond the typical doctor because nutrition isn’t the focus in medical school in the western world and you can obviously tell based on the condition of the general publics health

I can't tell you how much I agree with this and really helps to hear you talk about it as these are the conclusions I'd come to on my own.
