For the sake of god, stop putting in clickbait titles. I have been watching you for quite a long time because of your entertaining content, its also educating (in some way). But I recently noticed that you have been posing ALOT of clickbaity-alike videos. It's disgusting.

Shame on you. I know that you can be better than that.

I personally don't care if you make it as a GM or not. It honestly feels like I'm cheering on a brother. Win or lose we are going to support you. It's just exciting to see you try. But mental health is important and hope you get in a better mental space.

Bro, making IM is not failure, also, you helped bring chess to the masses, that's huge

thank you for being open, I hate that there is negativity towards you at all - you are an amazing contributor to the community and no one will ever take that away from you

Mate, im 53 years old and hadn't played chess for over 20 years. Then i watched some of your videos and im hooked again. Don't give 2 hoots what your competitive level is. You're entertaining and educational. Keep up the good work and don't let anyone grind you down.

When Ding Liren was asked for his advice on how to get better at chess, he said "sacrifice". Basically to get to any high level it takes a huge amount of commitment. Being the biggest chess content creator and training for GM toegether will take more time than you really have in a day.

Win or loss, IM or GM, retired or active, as long as you upload, I'll keep watching your new videos daily like I've been doing for a year straight. Do what's best for yourself and don't stress yourself out, we'll always be here! Enjoy life before anything else.

Looks like you're just going to have to settle for being the most hilarious, most educational chess personality out there. Your d4 and king's indian rating climbs took the dread out of that first step of learning chess for me, your Caro Kann course has made chess an enjoyable, less stressful experience for me. Chess is now something i actively enjoy almost entirely because of your content.
My friend and I constantly quote guess the elo to each other (much to the dismay of our friends who don't play chess) and have something fun that we play together, experiment with new openings and have a great time. You did this, and you deserve to do exactly what makes you happy. Just wanted to say thank you for everything, and hope to see more 1600 players hang a piece on move 6 soon :)

It's not a failure to not reach GM. It would be a failure to put yourself through the pain necessary to reach an achievement that you resent for everything it took from you. Finding not just peace, but joy in the fact that you're not headed that direction is a victory. Do not forget that.

You may retire from chess, but what you've done for the chess community is beyond anything anyone will ever do.
I'm saddened by these news, but you should know that you are an excellent human being for bringing chess in a fun and instructive way.

You already know this, but at times like these it's good to remind you: we love you not because of your potential GM level play, but because you inspired people (like myself) to try a historically elitist game with your entertaining, accessible and educative content fueled by your charisma. Thank you for your dedication and I am personally glad that you've decided to focus on what's important to you right now, nobody owns your life but yourself, so anything you want to do will be alright and we'll all be here to support you. Take care man, health is always first.

I think your calling in life is not to become a grandmaster, but to teach the world how cool and amazing chess is. You’re a true embassador.

As a fellow chess instructor (and not at MASTER level competitively), I have come to see the need for QUALITY, ENTERTAINING teachers of our game to spread the good news about chess. There are many GREAT players who simply could NEVER teach as well as you. Please continue to teach and entertain us because you are elevating chess and bringing more people to it. That helps ALL chess players.

It sucks to hear how much of a toll competing has taken on you, especially because you were the one who showed me how fun chess can be. I never watched you expecting that you were the best in the world. I watched because you are so great at making chess concepts easy to understand while always being fun/interesting to watch. Your channel has turned countless beginner players into intermediate players and that is a skill very few GMs possess

This is the most "mentally healthy" chess video I've ever seen. Kudos to you, Levy, your honest words here will benefit a lot of people, and perhaps save a few.

The importance of role models addressing their different mental issues can’t be overrated. It erases the stigma and the prejudices. And by doing so Levy probably changed a lot of people’s lives for the better. And that is the finest and highest you can achieve in life. I wish you all the best.

It's so refreshing to see an honest admission from a 1M+ streamer. You're a good guy Levy and I've been enjoying your content/courses for a couple years now. I think you're definitely making the right choice. Find the things you love about chess and focus on them. I'd way rather have another speedrun from you than one of these soul crushing tournaments. Who knows what the future holds but for now I think you're headed down the right path.
