A Crumbling, Rocky Experience in the Abandoned Big Blue Mine (Part 2)

The underground madness of exploring an abandoned mine that was dug through ancient river rock continues here in Part 2 of the Big Blue Mine exploration. This video opens with me crawling on my hands and knees over a backfilled area in the mine's main haulage tunnel. Behind this backfill, the rest of the mine is basically flooded here and there for thousands of feet. Undaunted by the water, I made my way through the wet, winding tunnels and down a couple intersections. Along the way, I discovered flooded shafts; open shafts; a winch; an ore bucket; miners' graffiti from 84 years ago; and a strange, spooky sound emanating from an unlikely source! Sit back, hit play, and follow along with me in stunning 4K quality as I explore and document the Big Blue Mine!

**If your device can handle it, make sure to watch this video in stunning 4K resolution!

Always amazes me in those riverbed mines how the rocks stay in place with little signs of collapse. All hand picked by the looks of it, hence the nice shape they cut. A amazing amount of what looks like calcite, there must be limestone in that area. We see lots of blue water in the mines over here in the UK, so lovely and clear.

Hi Frank, the white mineral is most likely Calcite, where the Calcium rich water drips down it can produce what are called "Cave Pearl's".
The mine's Ribs are actually a lot more stable than they look as there didn't appear to be any deadfall or collapses other than what we
have already seen. A nice mine to explore, thank you for sharing and taking us along on your adventure in the "Big Blue Mine", much love. xx 💖

Given the solid bands of sandstone I think that material would be more stable than it looks, kinda weird that there would be enough pressure in that pipe to make it spurt like that.

I would so go adventuring with you. I love exploring old mines. Even with all the danger. What a way to learn how the old time miners made a living. I'm generally impressed that you explore by your self.

This mine is absolute amazing .
It looks very fragile but it is stabile.
All this work to dig this Tunnel but no workings to see where the mines get some Gold or what is mined there.
I think this upper Level will be the answer.
Thank you for the Video and your effords to bring all this great pictures to us .
Greetings from Germany and the Harzmountains
Take care yours Frank Galetzka

Dang if I don't get super excited when a new video drops! I'm saving this for later when the lights are out and I'm alone. I love feeling like I'm right there.

Another great video! Thank you. I'm stuck in my apartment with COVID so this was a welcome treat.

Awesome exploration video as always! I was surprised by how uniform the tunnels are and how straight they are for such a long distance. I’d imagine that the PVC piping must have a huge amount of pressure built up to spray like that. Definitely an interesting mine, thanks for sharing, Frank, stay safe.
