Nucleic Acid:
Nucleic acid was first discovered inside the nucleus of a pus cell (sumatic cell). Pus cells are dead white blood cells and then in the sperm of fish (gamete cell).

Reason of name:
As nucleic acid is discovered in nucleus and it is acidic in nature so named as nucleic acid.

They are organic biological molecules and made up of 5 elements (PONCH) which are phosphrous, Oxygen, Nitrogen , Carbon and Hydrogen.
They are polymers and made up of monomers called nucleotides.

They are mainly involve in storage, transmission and expression of genetic informations.

Why DNA and RNA are considered main types of nucleic acid not AMP, ADP,ATP,NAD,NADP and FAD...?
All these molecules are made types of nucleic acd as the made from nucleotides but the main function which nucleic acid performed in cell is performed by DNA and RNA which is genetics information expression. The other molecules perform different functions such as energy storage by AMP, ADP and ATP and redox reaction by NAD, NADP and FAD. So only DNA and RNA considered main types of nucleic acid.
