I'm sorry to hear about your grandma. No matter how long they are with us, it's never really long enough. Praying for comfort for you and your family.

We made the move from AT&T DSL (which was working fine for us) to fiber in January. Fun fact, we already had fiber for the past several years (and had to upgrade to a digital phone for the house because our old analog ones no longer worked). So when the notices started arriving about moving to fiber, I was a little confused. This started last year and I was sure they were just mass mailing. But then a notice arrived with the specific date we would lose our service. I called and found out we were only partially fiber (as in to the node). After checking the alternatives and we decided to go ahead and upgrade to fiber all the way into the house. We are pleased with our service.

I used to have AT&T DSL. I was only getting about 70Mbps. I switched to Verizon 5G when it became available. Now I get about 270Mbps. There is no cable or fiber in my area. All our utilities are underground, so nobody is going to be digging up our streets to lay fiber anytime soon.
