2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6: Regular Car Reviews

This Hyundai Ioniq 6 is the savior of sedans, because that's all this is. It's a comfortable sedan like we used to have in the 1990's. A Sedan is all the Ioniq 6 is trying to be. It's not trying to be a crossover, or an all-rounder. This car says: "I have the money to have a truck for dirty work, and a nice clean sedan for around town."

I seriously need to know what the hell went into designing that rear end. Like, it’s not even ugly or gross or even bizarre, it’s just *fascinating*. It’s like someone saw a Saab 96 and said “yes, THAT”, and desperately attempted to make it work. And fuck it man, I respect it. Keep making weird cars.

This is exactly why Hyundais EVs are selling so well and are so highly regarded. Their not EVs for the sake of pleasing californias emissions regulations, their not EVs solely for early adopter environmentalists, their EVs built to be a good car for normal people

Hyundai used to be that brand I hated alongside Daihatsu and Kia. Those brands never did anything. But this thing shows that it doesn't pay to hold a grudge against a brand.

RCR likes my car! This makes up for the car wash towel guy asking me “is that a stretch beetle?”

As an airplane nerd I never understood why every car these days has to look like it has the aerodynamics of a 2 story house.

The teardrop shape looks good because it looks aerodynamic because it IS aerodynamic and having a purpouse behind the in design that isn't just "appeal to the primitive male desire for violence" is refreshing.

Mr. Regular, curb weight is 4621 lbs for the dual motor. 5556 is the GVWR, the most it's supposed to ever weigh full if people and stuff. Okloveyoubye.

As someone who drives a 1/2ton pickup, “men’s rights trucks” is hilarious 😂

This always struck me as the 2024 Saab 9-3 in the alternate universe where Saab survived.

Honestly at first I really hated how this thing looked. Then I looked at the entire line up for the Pittsburgh auto show and I now like it. Everything looks the same. You could remove badges from most SUVs and crossovers and not have a clue who makes it. At least this is something that stands out.

It's not so much that my friend has this car, it's that it *IS* my friend's car. Glad to see Andrew's review get posted; he always called this his "starship on wheels."

The sedan is dead. Long live the sedan!

Man Mr. regular understands contractors like I’ve said before. My dad was a contractor in the 80s and 90s and this is exactly what happened. From etching your name on the side of your tools with the soldering iron tub buying a Volvo seven series in addition to his beat up Ford F250.

This thing looks like a 90’s concept car for the Tiburon.

Holy shit literally bought this car a week ago. Great video, as always

Edit: After 3 months of owning the vehicle I agree completely with this video. It feels very old school but having all the new tech withough too much minimalism. And I love how it still looks like a early 90s-00s sedan. I take it on a 180 mile comute with it everyday and it's a dream.

Gross weight isn’t curb weight. This thing weighs about 4500lbs not 5500. You can load it up that heavy but the empty weight, while still chonky for a sedan, isn’t THAT bad.

Hyundai and Volvo are the 2 companies are going back to traditional sedans, NATURE IS HEALING. I just wish the Ioniq 6 looked more Ioniq 5 and less like a weird Citroen thing from france, I don't like how round it is

I hope this thing sells well. It seems creativity is often punished with unsuccess

Something you missed; charging speed. This has Hyundais 800v architecture which can go 10-80 in under 20 min, and can get 100 miles into the battery in 6 min. It’s not the only one to do this but along with the ioniq5 and EV6, the Hyundai/kia EVs are some of (if not the) cheapest EV you can buy with this super high speed charging. It literally cuts your charging times by more than half in some cases compared to a competitor like an ID4 or a Mach E

Seeing a review of your own car popup from ya does make me worried, but you hit the nail on the head. I've got one now and my favorite part is the fact that it's just... a good car. It's not doing too little or too much, it gives you enough fun for when you want it or to get yourself out of a bad situation on the highway when you put your foot down.

But it just feels... like I'm taking care of it and it's taking care of me. It's nice and it's comfortable.

It looks like a retrofuturistic Citroen DS - I guess the 1990s-2000s retro trend is returning.

I still like it.
