Sterling was brilliant at city but his performances at the end was slightly underwhelming. I would never judge him on his skin colour or personal life. I only judge him on his football skill but even then. On his day, he's one of the best. The Sun newspaper is disgusting and disgraceful

One of the most brutal moments for Sterling last year was the FA Cup tie against Leicester (the game where he skied the Free kick). He was getting a lot of heat from the home crowd due to his missed chances (and missed penalty iirc), but since his arrival at Stamford Bridge he is a player that never complains and always shows up, deserves a lot more respect or at least a lot less hate.

As someone that lives in the US it’s crazy to see how big/influential the tabloid press is in the UK. Yes, we have the National Enquirer here, but it rarely has sports on their front pages and the only people that buy them (if you can find it in your local grocery store) are… actually I’ve never seen a single person buy one…

It's because Sterling's black. Plain and simple. He's not a controversial figure, unless speaking out on racism is somehow controversial. Was he immature as a teenager? Sure, we all were, however he has matured and he was on his day an amazing player. Don't think most English fans will ever fully appreciate how good Sterling was in his prime. I genuinely wish him the best.
