Can anyone answer the following. 1, why the councils are allowed to PASS OFF a document as a court summons. 2, why all the councils in the North East were using the signature of a retired justic cleark. 3, Why the court only charges the council 50p in costs.4, Why the Magistrates courts are used instead of the civil courts. 5, why no one can provide a court record or order. 6, why do the council send a letter telling you they have an order, and not the court as required by the civil procedure rules. 7, why is no one allowed to counter claim. 8, why did the liebour government state in 2009 that the practice of councils issuing court paperwork, had stopped. 9 Why are people stopped from cross-examining the council. So many more!!

What might be more useful is how we could collectively get the act rescinded. Obviously we have to pay, but it is a very regressive and punitive tax and for over £3k per year I don’t even get a bin collection. It is totally delinked from local service delivery.

Never an issue paying tax. However, I often wonder how council offices get away with wasteful spending and never accountable. Looking at just one such misappropriation was the traffic lights around the roundabout at Barhill, Cambridge. Cost £600k used for one day, caused gridlock especially on the A14. I am aware that this was a few years ago.

Well my relative had no funds in the account at one time to cover the direct debit to council tax, so for some unknown reason the whole direct debit got "deleted" by the bank. They could not explai how and why but failed to notify either of the parties.. so no one noticed and long and behold 8 years lates there's a letter to pay thousands toward the council tax. Some abck and forth and about 6 months from that letter that relative is in court being told by the Sheriff she's being bankrupt..
Pay your council tax folks.

They are tenacious. I was in the process of selling a property I didn't live in while I relocated, and missed a couple of months council tax by genuine error (as I wasn't living there and didn't get any letters). They sent a bailiff to my dad's house scaring the crap out of him. Luckily, I could pay it and did (as I said, it wasn't intentional avoidance), but I was surprised how quickly they got heavy-handed.

There's a similar thing that goes around about paying the TV licence. It claims that it's an "Act" not a law, and that an "Act" requires consent, so if you don't consent then you don't have to pay.
Idiocy.

Send the council a letter of conditional acceptance upon production of a legal bill that conforms to UK legislation. They can't produce one!

This video is misleading in my opinion

Yeah, but paragraph 395b of the global human rights act by the UN combined with the communal law restitution of The Magna Carta of 1345 in combination with the finding that they don't want to know you about that a council is a company but not a limited but a UK plc subsidiary linked to the fact that order 46465 of King Arthur abolishing any land duty means that you don't have any liability to the state. I've heard that from the cousin of the friend of a mate whose grandmother was told this from a respected expert who saw this in a video from this young genius on TikTok, so it must definitely be

You could also trademark your titles under certain classes which means it cannot be used to collect debt.. actually specifies community charge in there too.. check it out .. trademark in classes 35 and 36 .. apply it to all sub headings within class... legal protection... or you could just learn about equity, trusts and the commercial use of...

Council tax should be abolished. I’m fed up paying for their fancy dinners, airy-fairy ‘courses’ and corruption opportunities.

Just wanted to add a couple of things that came up recently at work. If you genuinely cannot pay council tax then contact your local council as soon as possible. They genuinely want to help you, if for no other reason that it’s much easier and cheaper to help you now than to take out recovery proceedings against you in 6 months or a year. The other thing is that if you have recently moved to universal credit from other benefits then talk to your local council now. A lot of people don’t realise that universal credit is nowhere near as universal as the name would suggest. It does no include, for example, council tax benefit. If your main source of income is state benefits (including the old aged pension) then see if you can get an Income Maximisation review. There a benefits specialist goes through your income and expenses and makes sure that you are getting everything you qualify for. I’ve seen estimates as high as 50% of state benefits that people qualify for not being claimed.

Same goes for pretty much any organisation that bills you, the earlier you talk to them about difficulty paying the better. In the end they want to be paid but they also don’t want the hassle of recovery actions which are expensive and an administrative nightmare in most cases. About the only ones who won’t help are loan sharks (for those just notify your council’s illegal money lending team) and some utility companies (whose idea of helping people who can’t pay their bill is to put them on a prepayment token system with a higher per unit rate).

I heard of a recent case where the council failed to send a council tax demand for 20 years +, in discovering the error the council sent a demand for £30K+, however it’s seems that the council may only be able to collect for the last seven years. It seems that Council Tax law is a specialism within the legal profession.
I wish the Inland Revenue were as zealous collecting tax and NI contributions from employers, so many fail to pay and then declare bankruptcy and seem to be able to resume trading with another company probably with an alternative director. Often workers would turn up at the department of employment to claim unemployment benefit, only to find that they had no entitlement to UE as their employers failed to pay their NI contributions to the state which the employer had deducted from the employee. I hope the system has improved since the bad old days?
From my perspective council tax should go up in bands to infinity to include council on tax high value properties appropriately, including the Queen, one exemption maybe for a single official residence. However as we know the monarchy changes legislation to suit themselves and preserve their wealth.

I think people avoid paying it by entering a property, as tenants or owner and never telling the council that anyone lives there. Im sure it will just be a form to say the house is empty and possibly some photos of empty rooms. The council may or may not check up on that BUT! Once they look up the land registry or speak to your landlord (who will be registered at the council) then they will have a good idea how long you have lived there. Then a chat to neighbours and boof caught and in court. Just pay it and don’t be daft

On the other hand, if Govt issued, , rather than borrowed money in to existence, from private banks, who simply issue it in to existence, there would be no £3 trillion of Govt debt, where we pay £1Billion per week, just in interest payments on this debt, funded by taxation.

Basically what your saying is anyone can set up a company, corporation and demand money from someone without any contract ? Let's face it, if anyone thinks councils are value for money you need serious help, they empty your bins ..now once every 2 weeks, provide these new streetlight which are no brighter than a candle, police are a waste of time, fire service the same, what are you actually paying for ?

I am in dispute with my local council, who refuse to investigate my complaint against their planning department. I requested that they cancel my direct debit until my complaint is investigated. They simply refused to stop collecting from my bank account and ignore all correspondence. I really wish that I was not obligated to pay.
