My wife and I teach a balance and fall prevention class for seniors and I get a ton of course material from these CCTV videos especially. Thanks FAIL ARMY!

Some take aways:

1. Give yourself enough time to do what you have to do/Don’t rush

2. Move deliberately/Accept reality and tame your movement impulses

3. Take more time—Take more trips

4. Pay attention to the world around you/Situational awareness

5. Use the railing/Secure your load first/grab it right away

6. Take small steps on slippery surfaces or at night, especially at home

7. Beware of cornering! Go slow, esp. on slippery or unknown surfaces

8. Don’t walk and text

9. Don’t put things on the floor, even for a short time

10. Don’t walk with your hands full—If you have to…be extra careful

11. Don’t try to close doors with your feet w/hands full

12. Don’t try to open doors with your feet w/hands full

13. Engage core/Find feet before getting up/lifting/changing pace

14. Keep a healthy body weight. Being overweight makes you more likely to fall, more likely to get hurt if you do, and more likely to suffer complications and heal more slowly. It may not be PC, but it's true.

You can witness many falls in this compilation that would have been prevented by attending to these points. But rest assured FAIL ARMY fans, me included...most people just will not do these things.

3:15 I remember this one actually. An elderly woman had a sudden medical issue that caused her to lose consciousness and also lose control of her car, crashing into the side of this guys house. Luckily (and amazingly) no one in the house was hurt, the guy in the bed called 911, and I think the lady ended up making a full recovery in the hospital.
