The TAMA 50th Limited Starclassic Mirage is a 5-piece acrylic shell pack that celebrates five decades of TAMA drums, as well as honor the appearance of the original Starclassic Mirage in 2007. Re-released in a spectacular Crystal Ice—and elegantly contrasted by black-nickel hardware—the seamless acrylic shells deliver excellent attack, clarity and projection. The shell pack includes enough drums to provide bountiful creative options while crafting grooves and fills—a 22x16" bass drum, 10x7" and 12x8" rack toms, and 14x12" and 16x14" floor toms.

“We’re celebrating TAMA being around for 50 years,” says Kenny Aronoff, who has recorded drums on songs that have achieved more than 300 million total sales. “And I’ve played their drums for 44 of them. This acrylic Starclassic Mirage kit sounds amazing. The toms are incredibly even sounding and they work well together. The kick is punchy with just enough ambience and not too much ring. Basically, it has everything you need. The snare drum cracks like a metal snare. It has a lot of attack and just enough ring. This kit definitely has its own unique sound, but it’s very workable with guitars, vocals, keyboards and bass.”

The TAMA 50th Limited Starclassic Mirage also features die-cast hoops that center and focus the sound while also preventing bothersome and bizarre overtones. The result is bold, clear and transparent tones that come alive onstage and in the studio.

I'm always out of sync - 30 years behind (or ahead) of the trends. About 25 years ago, I started converting my 5 piece Tama Rockstar kit to acrylic shells, made by the same people who made them for Ludwig and many others. By the time I was done, it was a 7 piece kit, using Remo Pinstripes at the time, along with a custom 14x7 inch shell snare drum. Man, they were LOUD and BRIGHT! Eventually, I put Evans Hydraulic heads on all the batter heads, and it sounded more like the DW sound. When I got close to retirement, I sold them off, but dang, I miss them. And the acrylics look so good! Nothing Like 'em!

Ive been playing a Mirage kit from Tama for about 6 years. Sound guys love them and I must say, they are durable and stay in tune. Weather does not mess with them either, and they are great to gig at fairs and festivals. Great option when I want to leave the Sonors at home.

Amazing kit for an amazing drummer. I saw him with Joe Satriani at G3 recently. The spacing between his rack toms still throws me for a loop. If it works for him it works for him.

Ah the Jackie & Diane break. Epic. I used to have the Vista's from way back (Early 80's). Got the DW in Smoke (Sweetwater version) 2 yrs ago (They are great). And Kenny just convinced me to buy the Tama Mirage (Luv the blk nickle hrdware too). Do I need 7 kits ? Nope. Am I a professional drummer ? Nope. Ooh I'm going to be in so much trouble 🤕 (Btw, if you call GC or MF, they'll cut you a deal on this kit...looking at you Sweetwater 😞) Thanks Kenny.

I drove to Atlanta to buy a Starclassic Maple kit from a guy a couple months ago and went to the Atlanta guitar center to buy a bass drum head and I’m pretty sure I saw this kit there

Well you could let Tama know that a 2K kit shouldn't come with an 8-lug bass drum with cheap spikes. It cheapens the whole kit, and the Starclassic brand.
