Watch Season 2, Episode 10 of “The Process” for a behind-the-scenes look at our buffing process for Gibson Acoustic guitars.

Ever wondered how we buff your Gibson Acoustic guitars?

At Gibson, we craft guitars that not only stand the test of time but also become cherished heirloom instruments. We know that first impressions are important. Before you take a Gibson acoustic guitar home, you have to first be drawn to it. Maybe it is the finish, the flame of the wood, or the way it pops on the wall at your local guitar shop. The buffing process is the foundation for the quality of the appearance that makes that first impression special.

In this next episode of The Process, we see what’s involved in the buffing process at Gibson’s Montana factory and how every luthier at Gibson feels the immense responsibility to make the best guitars they can, every time. Listen as the talented craftspeople show us and explain the finer details of wet sanding and different buffing processes while taking us on a small tour of the Gibson acoustic factory, highlighting how bodies and necks are buffed and which Gibson acoustic guitars are buffed and which are not.

See just how hands-on the buffing process is and how intricate the building of a Gibson acoustic guitar really is, including the different waxes used. Watch as our luthiers ensure that your Gibson acoustic looks as beautiful as it does when you first walk into a guitar shop or open your guitar case. Finally, hear from Cesar Gueikian, Gibson’s President and CEO, as he shares his vision for the Gibson brand and reflects on the significance of a Gibson acoustic guitar’s first impression.

Gibson TV’s award-winning docuseries, “The Process,” is returning for a second season! This time, we’re taking you behind the scenes for an in-depth look at the physical process of making our acoustic guitars. “The Process” explores our newly expanded acoustic factory in Bozeman, MT, featuring interviews with the talented craftspeople who hand-make these beloved guitars and deep dives into the art of guitar making.

My 2021 Southern Jumbo comes with me everywhere, gets through a tonne of work and I’m more excited to crack the case now than I was when I first got it. Testament to the awesome work Gibson is doing. 🤘🏻

Aggh...the memories of buffing the LPSTs, SGS, FLYVs, and EXPs--10 hour shifts to buff 24 guitars a day, on 3 wheels, from head to toe, and get them by a QC inspector...FUN!😃

I firmly hold the opinion that Gibson acoustic guitars are the best mass-produced instruments, not just guitars, on the planet.

First off that's no different than what other guitar companies are doing and I want to thank the legendary JC Curliegh for restoring Epiphone back to premium in 2020 thank you JC Curliegh and all the best wherever you are now..

You guys did an episode of “ The Process “ at the Gibson Garage in like late February or early March and never posted it. 😢. Colin did final assembly of R9 and 335. I was there. Oh well.

First! Can Cesar make a Les Paul Standard with chambered body? That will be so close to 1959 and it will be such a relief for us, knowing not needing to spend 10K for 1959 Gibson, for light weight LP Standard.

I wish Gibson had a varnish that also hardens... my Gibson guitar from 2019 is a disaster... even Epiphone can do it better. That's why I'm thinking about buying a copy from Japan.
