Doctors warn of ER crisis as they struggle to provide urgent care

A group of nearly 200 Calgary emergency room doctors is warning, in an open letter to Albertans, that emergency departments are 'collapsing' and they're struggling to provide timely and effective care to patients.

Here, you go to emerg, sit there for hours, and the whole time the doctors and nurses are standing around talking, but about their families, what they did on the weekend, etc. They rarely check on patients. Not even vitals. Sometimes they talk about patients outside the curtains. Sometimes they make fun of patients in ear shot. I’ve had horrible bruises from nurses who you can tell hate their job. It’s not just a shortage that’s a problem.

U can solve this issue by taking back all those u fired during covid since they are not vaccinated. Then train for 6months all the foreign trained doctors whom u don't recognize by saying Canadian standards. I didn't see any standards at ER but patients sleeping on the corridors to get treatment worse than any Government hospital which u think as 3rd world countries.

Stop only hiring casual employees and hire full-time staff who get a decent wage and benefits. We are seeing the tipping point of cost cutting measures with no understanding of how these cost cutting measures will affect health care in the future with a bigger population and increasing elderly people.

Burnt out health care workers are NOT RECOGNIZED BY
Workers Compensation Boards.
