NEMOURS CHILDREN’S HEALTH SYSTEM | Parents ask pediatric heart specialist Dr. Nunlist when to be concerned about chest pain in children.

Dr. Eva Nunlist from Nemours Children’s Hospital in Orlando tells parents what chest pain symptoms may signal heart rhythm abnormalities or structural heart defects. Often, intermittent chest pain in children (pain that comes and goes) is caused by inflammation, acid reflux or even asthma. If your child has chest pain while exercising, or squeezing pain that lasts a long time, it’s a good idea to see a pediatric cardiologist for an EKG, echocardiogram (ultrasound of the heart) or other heart tests to rule out a more serious problem.

Dr. Nunlist evaluates children of all ages for chest pain at the Nemours Cardiac Center, Florida at Nemours Children’s Hospital in Orlando, and outpatient specialty care locations in Central Florida.
