The reasoning Luke gives in this video is actually pretty nice. I'm sure there are biases, but I like that he doesn't speak like he knows everything, he just says what he thinks and gives justification for why. A lot better imo than some of his other videos where he talks with less concrete reason.

CBDC will likely be offered as "free money" at first so that basically you're turning down free money if you don't use it. Then even people who see this dystopia ahead of time will still reason "everyone's going to do this so I might as well get my piece" and so most people do.

I've seen the debate of digital ID and digital currency acceptance many times before.
There is always an American debating someone from canada/Australia/UK.
Understandably, the American doesn't see much of a threat and won't see it working anytime soon.
And (again, Understandably) the person from the anglosphere has seen first hand that there country bends to all of this alsmot overnight and no one can do anything about it.

I think they are both right.
The American system is very hard to change and the whole republic functions on dated systems, as well as its citizens being stubborn to change and well informed about negative changes.
Meanwhile the commonwealth countries are basically a shell of a nation and its citizens have no say in anything. Power is from top down and no fuss is made. If fuss is made (like the Canadian trucker vaccine protest), it brings 0 results

What I think the Americans don't realize is that they may not have fast change but the globalized economy around them will. Americans will be slow to change but the world Around them will give in easily, thus affecting them inevitably

In Germany income tax, all business related taxes can only be done online and they managed to enforce it. It is simple, if you send paper it will not be accepted, and if you don't send digital you will be charged for not doing your tax. (Wage workers don't need to do income tax, their employer does it instead)

Luke's comments on China are good to hear. Everything I hear from the US government and mainstream media is all anti China government. They don't give specifics as to why; just don't think and get in line. However some blogs seam to be too rosy on the Chinese government. I don't know.
