This App exposed all your Chrome Passwords!

NEVER save your passwords in Chrome! The Chrome passwords are saved in a file called Login Data which is encrypted.
BUT there is a simple app that reveals all the passwords!

And no I am not going to tell you what the app is as I don't promote hacking. Google it and you should find it pretty easily.

Exactly why I have never taken up the browser's offer to remember my password. I use KeePass for several years now. I also use its automatic pwd generator, so I have a different pwd for every site.

KeepAss, or one of it's variants is nice, especially because it's cross platform. You can save the db on a cloud drive and all clients can get to it.
Many, many eyes on open sores keeps it secure.

My Google chrome updated and I lost a majority of my passwords. Does anyone know if this file still exists somewhere on my computer (mac) or had it been overwritten… can it be found anywhere

Password managers are a very bad idea. Write them down physically and don't even keep them on the pc or whatever you're using
