I always thought it was an image enhancement. Alot of games on nes used it like the karate kid on nes.

Notice the status bar says MARIO instead of World. So yeah, it’s a long cut level.

I've never noticed that. Thank you. There was a copy of (what I remember to be) Also the Genesis version of Batman had a screenshot from the NES game. At least that's how I remember it. Maybe it was just like this in something that was removed from the game.

I first noticed this mystery picture way back when i was a lil kid maybe 5 or 6, i always knew that wasnt in the main game but no one believed me because that ONE level that those flying beetles were in in world 5
