Morning! Any other reason you fail your photos besides these? :)

I like how realistic you are. Really to the point.

I was in Nepal last month, super happy to recognise many places/streets in your video. Definitely taking notes on that one. I need to start using zoom when I review my pictures for focus, how many times have I forgotten I was in manual mode and not auto .... messed up one of my favourite moment of the trip (beautiful pink and orange clouds around Everest) and only noticed hours later.

1:01 I shoot at canon 250D and am happy with it. btw about how many photos I shoot a day I shoot anything I see if it's interesting or not, that helps beginners a lot just like it helps me ❤

Hi Pierre,

Great video, thank you. Shooting street in UK often requires using less than ideal SS and aperture settings as it can be so dull. But then the sun comes out briefly and maybe a ‘decisive moment’ is spotted in darker shadow. Crazy!

My solution is to use the custom modes on my camera so I can switch between several settings and back again as fast as the London weather changes!

I have C1 Street Standard (1/500 sec, f5.6, -1 exp comp, Auto ISO, highlight priority AE),
C2 Street Dull Day (1/250, f4.5, 0 exp comp, Auto ISO, centre priority AE),
and C3 Street Sunny (1/800 sec, f8, -1.66 exp comp, Auto ISO, highlight priority AE)

I just got the Sony A6700 with kit lens 16-50mm. New in photography. Learning along the way. And watching videos on youtube.

Hi Pierre, what a great video to explain the settings to get the best shot. Thanks for the AEL-hold/AEL-toggle. That's a great settings to be used. I am shooting on a Sony A7-4.

Thanks for mentioning the AEL function. I myself also didn’t know that the function is actually very helpful!

I'm Maxwell and I use a Sony A6300 with a Meike 35/1.4 manual . I take about 1k pictures a year. I have a lot of photos of bikes and bike parts, but I also like to take photos of the street at night. Thanks to your videos, I've gotten better at looking for beautiful views on ordinary streets.

Hello Pierre, I'm Michael. I use an old Sony a6000. When I go out shooting it really depends on what I see. Approximately 40 shots and I like most of them. I don't just press the shutter. I tend to "feel" the image before taking it

I am Avery and depending on the subject or event, I use a Sony full frame a7riii, or my aps-c a6000. Mainly it will be the full frame a7r. This past holiday weekend I shot just over 400 and during culling and editing I have just under 150 left. I really like your content, and will be reviewing several times in the days to come.

Good morning Pierre, apart from the right considerations that you have illustrated, but I am convinced that often mistakes are also due to the fact that you keep the camera off to save energy and when we turn it on sometimes there are not those correct settings.

I’m Lizzie, and I recently upgraded from a Canon Rebel to the Sony A7 iv. I can’t even begin to count how many photos I have that are soft or even blurry. Took me way too long to discover that underexposing and too wide of an aperture can affect sharpness. Even a 6.3 or 7.1 may not focus the entire image. Some really great tips here, especially the AEL button. I had no idea what that was and have never heard it mentioned before, even in Sony A7 tutorials. Considering how many people recommend stacking images for exposure and nerve mention the AEL, I’m wondering if a lot of people aren’t aware of it.

How do you use AEL and what do you set/map it on for the exposure lock? How to focus and use AEL

As requested, camera Nikon D600 and iPhone. 4300 keeper shots per year. For handheld grab shots I use Aperture mode at f8 and auto everything else. If you have time then this can be modified to suit.
