My mom had sisters. And they were orgonized. One even own a cherry orchard with a stand of woods full of native black berries and huckleberries. We kids were loaned back and forth to harvest. Picked beans, tomatoes, berries. Canned daily at peak season. Made jam, jelly and bought bushels and bushels of windfall apples for sauce and fruit butter. Of course we had to pick the apples up. One aunt pickled anything that couldn't run away from her. Made the best ever bread and butter pickles. We didn't can meats. That's what the locker plant with it's super cold was for. Oh and peaches! My dad would doctor about a dozen jars with brandy for making icecream the fallowing summer. Ignore the ignorant. Don't have a clue about what they are missing.

My husband had a big garden and canned every year. there is nothing like going into the canning room in winter and getting your own vegetables ❤️

This is and was the way of life for my grandparents, great grandparents and so on. This is how they fed and provided for their family.
When food is not in the grocery stores people panic. This family got it all figured out

All through history people were preppers. Even in the Bible the Egyptians prepared their food for 7 years of plenty for 7 years of drought.
That's because God told Joseph to interpret Pharaoh's dream and to prepare. If they hadn't the world would certainly look different now because all of Egypt would have died.

I am 53, and I finally got to grow my first garden. This year and I cannot tell you the amount of of happiness. I get from eating something that I grew knowing that no other person has touched it. It's not been on the floor of a grocery store, and there's no pesticides. It just tastes amazing ❤
