at age 8 or 9 i came from school and there was nothing to eat. so i made.

Little Boris didn't technically do anything wrong (other than touch the no no stove) and tried his best to cook without any reference. Good dad moment.

This was pretty wholesome. Papa Boris being so chill about Smol Boris cub cooking some eggs, eating the half-burnt egg made by his offspring AND then cooking some eggs for Mama Boris and Smol Boris, seems like he is/was a cool slav.

I started tearing up listening to how calm and understanding papa Boris was. He understood that he was just trying to figure out how things work, like frying an egg, and didn't get upset or frustrated, only supporting his son.... I think I have daddy issues

Papa Boris killin' that parenting thing with the "you forgot the oil" response. Even though some of the stories make me feel some anxiety as a *parent*, I absolutely did these things as a GenX kid and thought nothing of it. See, while I’ve heard some variations of the “parents weren’t home, so I cooked for myself” story before, what I *haven’t* heard before was said parents salvaging the damaged meal.

My first cooking experience was at age 12. Both parents were at work, and my younger brother and I were off school & hungry. I called my mother and she described how to cook the egg.
