Just so everyone knows, the enclosure that Lon has is the one with Jmicron chipset that has trouble reading or copying/transferring data from it. This is a problem all NVMe enclosures have as they all use the same chipset. Except pluggable has updated their chipset to a realtek one. Get that one instead (arrows on enclosure have no white circle) They have provided me a replacement at no extra charge.

Apparently it's only the controller that you need to cool as the dram chips are more efficient while warm.

I doubt any of the thermal pads are in contact with any metal part of the enclosure.

I had a small issue with a Thunderbolt 3 cable from Plugable and they refunded me without much discussion. I would trust them again.

Lon, I'd question if those thermal pads are really doing anything at all... only by the fact that it slided in easily.
If there is an air gap between the pad and the chassis, it might be doing nothing, or even making things worse depending material used.
Then again, doesn't sound like much to worry about unless you will really push it.

Did you enable better performance and write caching in device manager?

Does it require a driver my disk isn’t showing up

What solution would you suggest for iMacs which fastest connectors are only thunderbolt 2 ? The apple adapter T3 toT2 is not bus-powered, and those enclosures out there for NMVE's are not powered separately... any solution you would recommend?

I went with the prior gen version of this: two M.2 SATA SSD's in RAID 0, in a 10 Gbps USB-C enclosure. Stats are quite comparable to this.

For NVME, a Thunderbolt enclosure is where it's at.

I don't see $60 maybe $25 they need to reprice

i like the products made by plugable... i have a few of them, I give them thumbs up for quality and design, Lon ... . Would it be possible to take one more look at this device running on, a regular 3.1 USB interface and check the speeds... I think 3.1 connections are more common, and let's just make sure that there's not something goofy going on because the speed you got seemed to me to be a little low. I think for the most part both numbers might be valuable to the audience, I personally want to get a USB 3.1. Gen 2 card. The comparison might encourage me to make such a purchase.

I have a cloning dock that has 2 Sata ports inside. I wonder if I purchased a SAS to USB C cable Then I could use this nvme eternal on one of the sata ports?

Selling point for me is knowing what ssd I am putting in the enclosure. You buy off the shelf you don't know what you're getting.

5:53 is the place you want to click ... to see those external NVME are pointless, since those speeds hits are brutal... as of now external SSD make more sense if you want to use the power of USB3 gen.something .... till we hit another USB number

if only they made a thunderbolt 3 m.2 nvme enclosure
i want them to beat the big boys xD

Would something like this be overkill for adaptive storage for Nvidia Shield? Would need a USB type-C to type-A adapter, right?

hi can you talk about the issue with AMD and OEM ?

why we don't get a good laptops with AMD processors ?

Results sound like you were plugging a 3.1 gen 2 into a 3.1 gen 1 port.
