Remember, 60 is a group that can validly be written as the summation of 6 × 10 and 0 × 1.

You know (7 - 5) is involved in multiplication because of the way it is grouped. 5(7 - 5) is that group. 5(2) is also a group. So is (5 × 2) a group. Writing it without bracketing it mistakenly changes the meaning: it no longer shows the grouping.

He already explained it, but I will explain
So first, do parentheses so 2 because the parentheses had 7 - 5 now we have
60 divided by 5(2). Now you you division so 60 divided by 5 is 12 so you have 12(2) now. Do 12 x 2 because 2 is in the parentheses making you multiply. So after multiplying 12 and 2, you get 24

I used PEMDAS/BODMAS to solve (order of operations).

P=parentheses/brackets ()
E=exponents/order
M=multiplication
D=division
A=addition
S=subtraction

Also, when multiplication and division or addition and subtraction is left, go left to right.

I hope I helped someone somehow!

You know multiplication is involved because of the way 5 & (7 - 5) are arranged as a GROUP.

Ok so 60 divided by 5 = 12
And (7-5) = (2)
Now we are left with 12(2) if some of you forgot or dont know this is pretty much just 12 x 2
So our answer is 24

Guys theres two answers stop arguing abt it theres both bodmas and pemdas

The bodmas is 6
And the pemdas is 24
Theres two answers

Or just make everything a multiplication
60 * (1/5) * 2 = 120/5 = 24

60×2=120
And now 120÷5= 24

This is the correct method sir

Sharp and Casio calculators use PEJMDAS, properly placing a higher priority on the juxtapositional multiplication. Which will give the correct answer of 6
Mathematics was created in order to communicate explanations of physics, astronomy, and finances. The solution to these issues is to verify the techniques against experimentaly verifiable results and make sure that your math actually serves it's original purpose.
In science, hypotheses are tested before being accepted, let's test the hypothesis of being able to preform this math problem as proposed.

One such experiment involves rolling a wheel along a track.

Distance divided by circumference is equal to the revolutions required to roll a wheel. Dist÷2πr=revolutions.
To roll a wheel 120" how many revolutions will a wheel, with hub radius of 11", and a tread thickness of 1" have to complete?
120"÷2π(11"+1")=?
120"÷(2π)(11"+1")=?
120"÷π(22"+2")=?

Will it be 120"/2 x π(12") = ? 2262in²
Or 120"/6.283 x (12")= ? 229.2in²
Or will it be 120"/π x (24")= ? 916.7in²

Obviously not since every one of those results, to the same problem, returns a different incorrect answer with the units of inches².
Any answer much different from 1.59 revolutions is going to be incorrect. This is verifiable experimentally

PEMDAS was not "invented" by mathmaticians. It was created by grade school teachers of Mathematics, not even physics or science. It's an oversimplification to make it easier to get the basics taught. The Style Guides of both the Society for Mathematics and the Society for Physics recognize the importance of the PEJMDAS conventions that prioritizes juxtapositional multiplication ahead of division. And our experiment supports this. In science, it only takes one example to disprove an hypothesis, which I believe has now been done.

This short shows exactly why you should NEVER use the divide symbol over the straight line. Just using the line will remove any weong impressions of the problem.

60 ÷ 5 (7-5)
Isnt it like 5 x 7 = 35 and 5 x -5 = -25 and then add them up and you get 10 and then 60 divoded by 10 is 6? Or 60 divided by 5 is 12 and then 12 times 7 and negative 5 and its equal to 84-60 which is 24 or 60 divided by 5 which is 12 and then you subtract 7-5 which is 2 and then you multiple 12 by 2 which is us also 24?

Its 24 lol

First 7-5 = 2

The you divide 60 by 5 and you get 12

Then you are left with 12(2) so you multiply 12 by 2 and you get 24.

I used PEMDAS to solve it

Hope this helped!!

The correct answer is 6.
60 ÷ 5(7 - 5) = 60 ÷ 5(2) = 60 ÷ 10 [because of implied multiplication] = 6

You are ignorant! This problem must be rewritten as 60/(5(7-5)) because of the implied operator 60 is the numerator and 5(7-5) is the denominator. That makes this problem 60/10 = 6. No PEMDAS necessary! You must know what each mathematical statement means, not just push keys on your calculator 8n the order they appear left to right!

Pemdas??
Didn't u mean bodmas????
Does ur country deal with maths differently?

7-5=2, then multiply 5 by 2 which is 10. Which leaves you with 60/10=6

24
60 / 5 (7 - 5)
7 - 5 = 2
60 / 5 * 2
60 / 5 = 12
12 * 2 = 24
