Does the price of Yupo paper hold you back from exploring with your alcohol inks? Do you want to try new techniques with alcohol inks but you are afraid to waste paper? I found a paper that is 1/2 the cost of yupo paper.... I just needed to see if the quality would be there. So I put both papers to the test! The results may surprise you!

I have been using the grafix craft plastic for a year or so. It even comes in a black version for use with neon colors and shimmery colors. Huge fan of this product. Thanks for posting 😁

I have used the craft plastic but my favorite is mineral paper, it's made out of rock! It's a bit thinner but is easy to die cut and can be heat embossed with no warping, plus it feels velvety.

I’ve used just glossy cardstock. It’s usually available at stationery stores & printers. ❤️🇦🇺

I found some Brea Reese rolls of paper for 6.99, I think it was 12x24, for $6.99 at Tuesday morning. On the label it says “compare to yupo”. *I haven’t tried it yet* but if you’re interested check out the vinyl roll buckets at your Tuesday morning-that’s where it’s hiding 🤗I also bought her ink which they had many many colors!

I've used Yupo and Nara and tend to fly through those because I'm relatively new to alcohol ink techniques. Just purchased mine through your link and can't wait to give it a try as an alternative means for practicing. Thank you for sharing!

What a great video, thank you much! I have alcohol inks but have never used them after my first failures, this product will give me the confidence to experiment!

Thanks for sharing this video again. I watched it and yes, the craft plastic paper is much better. But I am also glad you showed we have to use a hairdryer instead! Big bonus too. For me, cause I am taking the Card Maker Summit in Feb. I cannot wait to see what you come up with. Thank you again it is always appreciated. We all want to make great crafts.

Yes, that Grafix craft plastic is a great alternative for yupo paper. I love it.

Thank you for this tip. I use Kirkland photo paper. So much less expensive than Yupo.
I see you were using Alcohol Blending Solution to remove the ink. If you use Isopropyl Alcohol it would probably clear it in one try. Plus it much less expensive than blending solution.

Love Graphix Craft Plastic! I've been using and demoing with it for three or more years now. It is my favorite substrate for alcohol ink. It is definitely a lot less expensive and so great to work with. If you don't use high heat, you can basically heat this plastic all day and it won't warp. I did a heat comparison at one of the stamping shows I where I was demoing alcohol inks and added the same amount of lower heat (but still high enough for embossing) to a piece of Yupo along side a piece of the Graphix Craft Plastic on and off all day and by the end of the day the Graphix was still flat and the Yupo was warped into a ball.

This is an awesome find! I have recently purchased an alcohol starter kit but was hesitant because of the cost of Yupo paper. Now, thanks to you I can buy this affordable paper. PS...Just subscribed. TFS
