It's Maple Syrup Time - Tapping Trees and Boiling Sap

We had a fun time tapping maple trees, gathering sap and boiling it down to syrup. The evaporator is old fashioned and wood fired. We do some silly stuff, but there’s information too. This was something different so let me know what you think. -Devon

Cool video showing the entire process. I'm glad you included the metal buckets as well. Growing up in upstate NY this was a way to make extra money as a kid. Gathering sap buckets. I'll take that job over bailing & throwing hay anytime 👍

I planted a sugar maple about 10 years ago in my yard. I don't think I'll get much sap out of it anytime soon...

Me and my young son have tapped our lone silver maple now for several years here in our subdivision and he enjoys “the old ways” as well as eating the syrup!

Spent a season on a Vermont farm emptying buckets back in the 1970s. Sure looks a lot easier now.
