For cinematography the animated show ARCANE should be taught in every film school. It is the best cinematography I have ever seen irrespective of live action or animation. The way they play with focal length, focus pulls, camera angles, framing... There are literally a dozen match cut transitions as good as or better than Kubrick's tossed bone to space station in '2001'or Lean's transition from struck match to rising sun in 'Lawrence of Arabia'.

Why you sit back and analyze it it is truly remarkable how much story, world building and character arcs are told purely through cinematography. There is one fight scene that tells a whole episode's worth of two characters arcs and relationship of 8'ish years between a time jump. The whole story of two childhood best friends ending up on two different sides of a deadly conflict. Or, another where a cold open flash back defines a character in the transition from her as a young girl to the leader of one side of the conflict alone.

ARCANE is a masterpiece and if you have not watched it do yourself a great service and rectify that.

Animated cinematography constantly gets overlooked in the industry. It's criminal. Cases like the Shrek films that have released 35mm theater film prints when they released just show they have a place in cinema history too. The first Puss in Boots movie was projected in anamorphic 35mm in those theaters. An interesting choice.

Screw you for showing me a big giant massive rabbit hole of anamorphic lenses in 3d software. I dont know how to program and now i wanna learn it to recreate physically accurate anamorphic lenses in a software like blender, damn it.

Because of all the movie sections, this video became ineligible for monetizing! If you feel like supporting my work, or if you learned something cool here, please send a little $$ with a "Super Thanks"! :D Thank you!

What a gem, Tito! Really loved this one. Also, how can we give extra support to Zeno for continuing his development of lentil? Pretty sure lots of CGI/VFX people were already subscribers here, and now will get to know lentil thanks to you! Can't wait what's to come! :D

I worked on a story board just the other week, and all I had was some photos. But this made me realize how sketches could easily been more useful.

And I am watching this while working on a shader utility myself.

Yoooo a video I didn’t know I needed 🔥🔥🔥 thank you!
this collaborative idea of CG sounds so awesome where live action would need reshoot after reshoot. It’ll also be crazy to see Lentil used on a consumer level like how some anamorphic lenses have brought the cost of entry down for budget filmmakers!

This is super interesting! Oh, I have read Chris Brejon's amazing online book for CG cinematography like 3 times :) As to Lentil, I am actually using this awesome tool in Cinema 4D and it can simulate anamorphic lenses in the ThinLens mode, allowing to change the squeeze factor and bokeh texture. The Polynomial optics module has many great lenses like Biotar and Primoplan, but currently does not have any anamorphic simulations available, I hope they can update it in the future!

Loved this video. I honestly would not mind you significantly cutting back on your anamorphic videos to make these

Did... you just pull a record-scratch gag, in a scene without BG music?

почему бы не снимать кино в виртуальной реальности? Актеры в виратуальной реальности могут иметь кастюм как мы его нарисуем
