After 40, 000 years of endless war, in the grim darkness of the far future, brother Elton is STILL STANDING

In the context of this marine being the "last man standing" and having the time of his life knowing he'll soon join his brothers is so metal. This will surely become someone's new workout song 100%. There is an entirely different aura a Space Marine gives to this song than Elton John does.

"What in the name of The Emperor is he doing?"

"Don't worry, he's just reciting an ancient passage from Holy Terra."

Every man has two fantasies: a woman he can give his true and unconditional love to and holding the last stand in a hopeless battle by his own even if he knows he can't win.

The metallic reverb from the helmet, the slight crackle from coming in over the vox, the way he goes into screaming for the high notes, it’s perfect

"Brothers, allow me to recite the ancient Terran battle hymns as we take the fight to the foul xenos."

"Proceed, brother chaplain."

I can imagine a Space Marine dealing with the a campaign gone wrong and instead of falling to Chaos...he start humming...then in the middle of a battle that he knows he's gonna lose...he starts singing...and then...he starts winning.

Imagine Garviel Loken, wandering across the ash fields and blighted ruins of Istvaan III. Defeated. Broken.
Yet enough of his mind remains to remember snatches of a tune; ancient, but still known and recited among the Marines.
Eventually, Garro finds him. Between snatches of psychotic babble, he whispers to himself, pain and regret heavy in his voice:
*"I'm still standing"*

It’s well established in the lore that the Astartes sing “battle hymns”. How do we know this isn’t one of them?!?!

It's been a headcannon of mine that if the Imperium had their own versions of Noise Marines they'd be blasting hits from the 70s, 80s and 90s. Imagine a squad going in with Everybody Wants to Rule the World blaring.
