TIP: In identifying the number of rows/columns, I suggest to use COUNTA() formula. Just fix 1 row or column in order to count changing quantities of rows/columns as you drag the cell. Rather than the hassle of combining vlookup and hlookup plus making an additional row/column, and indicating the quantities of rows/columns then going for a hide function.

What formula would you use in order to for example sum all the values within category A for all years prior and including 2015? I am trying to do this for a template where the changing cell is a month, and I need it to grab all previous months for a YTD total.
