My son and I have used Cakewalk as a DAW since he was a teenager and now he's heading for forty! we live at the opposite ends of the country so we transfer files to work on music. Mike, there aren't enough words to express how grateful I am that you put so much effort into teaching Cakewalk by Bandlab. Unfortunately, I'd been dragging my feet for years about buying recording equipment and choosing a DAW. After picking Cakewalk about a year ago, I finally stumbled on to your channel and it's been nothing short of a blessing. I'm only sad that they're going to discontinue it. I'm learning more and more all the time and don't want to switch to another product. I've been using Cakewalk since 1989 (Twelve Tone Systems' DOS ver. 1.1 as I recall) and I'm not about to change now. So thank heavens for Mike!

Have been using Sonar, then Cakewalk for many years and Mike's guidance and expertise have been invaluable- clear, concise, patient and always engaging. Thank you. I can understand some of the concerns expressed here about how convoluted the reactivation process might seem, but folks need to remember that this has been a FREE product which is capable of some very professional functionality, for which we should be grateful.

This is all good, but some time will pass (maybe two weeks) and Cakewalk will ask you to activate it again. And if there is no Internet on the computer, then the whole procedure will have to be repeated. For those who want to experiment, just fast forward a month and see what happens.
I don’t understand the point of activation at all if the program is free.

To chime in with many of the other comments - you don't need to go through the kokolores with the offline computer. To register, you do select the "register offline" option, but then just continue and register online. Follow everything Mike says except copying the files over to another computer and back. As long as the computer you're running Cakewalk on is connected to the internet (which most computers these days are), you do the whole process on that connected computer. But still thanks, Mike, for your kind help, greatly appreciated 😊
