Currently in Katmandu riding 690s. Just buy the 250. I've seen them made. I've met the guys on the line. They care and they take the time to do it right the first time. They are all riders themselves. That's KTM. That's why I am on my sixth KTM. You will appreciate your decision for the life of the bike.

@LegendLength I agree. My first bike was a Honda XL100. It took me a while to take it to its limits.

@NANKEL1 The track is around 80 years old. I first rode it 43 years ago. It is 1.2 kilometres in length with tight single and open sections, and a couple of jumps. Now where is it? Family farm, Central Coast. And no your not in my family. Well that I know of anyway. :)

@ricibiribicci It is a bird called a 'Bell Bird'. Australia is jam packed with noisey birds.

@WolfPunk44O I haven't ever ridden an sxf on the 450 exc, which I understand is a little more mellow. All I can say is that it really hausl when you crack it open.

@Krimi1410 KTM does rule.! No doubt about that!

@SuperScradley I really don't think you should have done a 2012 200 is on the way.

@MalliganTheUFO If you've ridden a KTM450, the power delivery is very similar to that. Except that is when the exhaust valve opens, then add another 100 cubes.

@mikeridesbikes721 thank for that mate. Yep that Mike's bike. It took a decent hit in recent weeks and the wheel is buckled. Good spotting. I think he need a perhaps!

@jensenyo I have ridden the 450 extensively in New Zealand, you will find vids on my site about that and no dbout about it I loved that bike and it was ideal for those big open trails. But in my home town I ride tight single trail and a little bit of open stuff. In those conditions it is just perfect. If I were to buy a 4 stroke KToomer I would test the 350...that is a weapon in the tight stuff and 450 if you are riding the open stuff.

Remember maintenance costs a lower for the 2s.

@MotoDareDevil Keep saving, but before you buy, do your self a favour and ride a KTM200. This is the king of the tight single trail. Easy to maintain. Cheap to do a top end rebuild. Just ride one and you'll never look back.

@kr09d I saw the Six Day 300s being made in the factory at KTM Austria. They are one hell of a bike!

@nandinholut I used to have a 250 EXC. It is a different sort of power. The 250 is great, but the 300 is awesome but not intimidating. The 2012 has had significant mods to rear of frame and air intake. These two things alone make a significant difference.

First thing, all the ktm two strokes can be easily detuned. I think it is good to get son's on 200s when they are about 15-16 - however to ride that bike well is work. For older beginners the 250 is the go. It can be ridden slow, but don't estimate it, it is a weapon in the right hands.

@aron0master I took it through some serious water today and worked well. Although I don't think it is water proof in the true sense of the word.

@MalliganTheUFO I've ridden a 490. A little more linear.

This is a thorough bred dirt bike. Absolutely no city riding on this puppy!

Seat is good.
