Upgrading the Rearview Mirror. Autodim & Compass Subaru OEM

Hey guys welcome to my channel.

Today we install a new autodim and compass display rearview mirror in the wagon.

Gone is the cheap mirror.

Super easy DIY upgrade in minutes anyone can do it.


Steps to follow:

Unscrew the map light assembly
Plug in wire to factory harness and run the wire towards the windshield
Take off the stock old mirror
Installed the camlock to wedge adapter kit and install the new mirror
Plug in the wiring you ran and then follow instructions to calibrate the compass

Love the clean and luxurious look.

Nice upgrade for any car. Grabbed a mirror out of the junkyard, ran the wires in my 1994 LeSabre to the power source and to the compass in the engine compartment that I installed. Piece of cake.

Perfect video, my 10 WRX came with a home link mirror but it was lose. I had to replace the hardware used to hold it up. This video helped me quite a bit.

I bought something like this LEXAND LR90 video recorder in the mirror brought it home turned it on did not set the time and date flew off The reason was a swollen battery at 300 mah put from the mobile phone at 600 now everything works

Big help. Had trouble with new installation: metal clip was shaped more like a “V” on the original. eBay/YouTube to the rescue. The new clip didn’t want to budge, but planets finally aligned!

so SUbaru prewires the car to add the mirror and dimming exterior mirrors so you just have to add change the rearview mirror and exterior mirror glass?

Would a 2017 Subaru Legacy have the white power cable in the headliner? I don’t want to open it up if the chance of the cable being absent is possible

It’s not clear how you ran the new wire to meet the plug that was already there. Is it that simple that you didn’t need to?

This mirror is a piece of shit, and it will fall off just from the bass on the stock stero. Then you will lose one of the screws under your seat, which you can't remove without a special tool. This has happened to me twice!

Did I want to ask if the interior rear-view mirror can also be mounted on my subaru?
My subaru was owned by the subaru italy before I bought it.

In practice, before buying the rear-view mirror, I wanted to make sure that there is a link connector that you see on your youtube video ...because I checked on my STI 2016 but the cable that should come out of the ceiling lamp is not there...


maybe it is not possible to mount it for the models for the Italian or European market?

My 2015 doesnt have that cable up in the light, mine must be a newer model than yours. I suspect that there is another cable I would have to install further into the headliner. Kinda bugs me they didnt have a harness available, or it just didnt get pulled up far enough out for me to find it. I have a camara I can mount on my phone and probe farther into the headliner. Typical.
