Neitzcshe disliked religion. His father was a religious man. But he had the foresight to understand that Christianity had provided the system of values in Europe for over one thousand years. The collapse of religion was also a collapse of that value system. Neitzsche realized that would lead to tragedy. For example, Christianity said tell the truth and don't lie. In the Soviet Communism, that was replaced with the compelled speech of the state regardless of truth. In other words, it valued the state more than the truth. It was an attempt at a replacement value system that lead to suffering.
