My 2016 server would not boot properly after some Windows updates. Since it was a less critical server I wanted to test out the DR boot to ISO. The first attempt took 17 hours and failed on the restore (4TB volume) the second attempt, after changing a few options, finished in 18 hours. When it came back up it booted with a new error "status 0xc0000225" so I had to boot to a 2016 ISO and run:
Bootrec /fixMbr
Bootrec /fixBoot
Bootrec /ScanOS
Bootrec /RebuildBcd
The server is back up and running.

The problem I am running into is that during a recovery process there is no mouse. And I am unable to use keyboard commands, including Ctrl-M and others, to select the date of the file. I am at the last part to trigger recover, and I cannot select the date of the back up. After all these years you would think the would have solved the mouse issue or provide key board commands to use the recovery software.

Can I back up to an external drive. Change my ssd to a larger storage and restore the backup
