I'm so happy I could help you with organizing your shelves! It's something I find very therapeutic in general, and I do it pretty much seasonally.

And with Goodreads, I used to have a ton of shelves too! But then I realized I only needed a certain number of shelves for my own reference, so I whittled it down. I'm a huge fan of the "consideration" shelf too, because it really gives you a better idea of what your actual TBR is!

I love your idea for the consideration vs. TBR shelves. I currently have over 1, 000 books on my TBR shelf on Goodreads and really need to clean that out. I have been meaning to go through and cleaning out those shelves and reorganizing, now I have the inspiration to do so, thank you!

Omg i'm impressed with how much you can purge. I would have loved an Unhaul Video!! - find them super interesting. Honestly i'm relatively new to Goodreads so i still just have the Read, Currently Reading and TBR shelves. So far it's working for me but i don't have an order to what is on my TBR shelf ... which i might like to get around to fixing one day. I'd probably just have a shelf separate for the books in series i've started so i don't forget them haha.

Great discussion! I read the Konmani book a couple of years ago, and I think I'm *finally* ready to tackle my books. I did some Goodreads organization last year but want to go back and clean up my shelves more. Thanks for the great ideas!

The Marie Kondo book was very inspiring. I'm halfway through decluttering my apartment. Definitely feel like I can breathe more and love having only things I love and use/need around me. Tidying up is a lot easier now because I know where to put everything.

I honestly didn't have too hard of a time with my books, surprisingly. I still have a ton but I was real with myself and have put all the ones I know I'll never re-read away to take to the used bookstore or have given them to others. Probably got rid of 30 or so, which is not bad for a book hoarder. I think I just saw how many I actually had all together and was like...you have a problem, Jen.

I was also keeping books that I liked/thought were cute/liked the cover. I had a lot of PLL books and honestly, I am 3 from the end and I never want to re-read them even if I enjoyed them. Way too long of a series. Couldn't part with my unread books though because I want to give them a chance and I'm slowly working on them.

I definitely need to do this with my Goodreads shelves too. I'd already planned to declutter all of my digital things, email, social media, etc. But I know I have like at least a few thousand on my GR TBR and ... really? I think a good habit would be to scan new books onto the "own" shelf before it goes on the actual shelf. We'll see how it goes. I like the series tbr consideration shelf idea.

Are you going to do a video on what you decided to purge? Or a new bookshelf tour? I'm interested in what you decided to get rid of. Glad you are happier with your shelves now!

I use "calibre" to organise my books collection physical and digital. It is great since you can personalize near every thing, add columns, tags, notes, you can add books even if there is no isbn or if your books are not referenced on good reads.
You can create and edit your own books. You can transform your epub to mobi or azw. What I ve done for exeple, is copy my favorites fanfictions in Word, save it as .doc, then, change it in azw with Calibre and finally transfer it in my kindle to read .

Great video. I still haven't gotten around to getting rid of some of the books on my shelf that I still have not read. I probably need to do it soon since I just moved to a new place and I don't have enough space for all the books.

I've been purging my books too. If I didn't like it, I get rid of it. Last night I got rid of one I hadn't read. I read another book by the same author and wasn't too impressed so I just threw both books in the sell back pile

i only own one book i haven't read 😂 living in germany, not being able to buy from the internet and only reading english books is hard 🙁
