White & Durbin Respond to a Mormon

Dr. James White, of Alpha and Omega Ministries, and Pastor Jeff Durbin, of Apologia Church, sat down to interact with an article written by a Mormon apologist. This gentleman wrote in response to a popular video which includes Jeff and is used to reach Latter-day Saints with the Gospel.

In the article, the author opens up with a criticism of Dr. James White (directly criticizing Jeff because of his close relationship with Dr. White). Dr. White and Jeff felt that it would be helpful to interact with the article on a few critical points. Much more could be said but we hope this hour of interaction will help and encourage Christians to reach out in love to our Mormon neighbors.

Here's a link to the article:

James White is my favorite apologist. His debates and book caused me to convert from Islam to accept Jesus Christ.

That video they made, "The Gospel for Mormons" really helped me when I was coming out of Mormonism. I had only been a member of the LDS Church for about 6 months and had found out some of strange beliefs or as the Mormons call it, "deeper doctrine" that the missionaries do not share with potential converts or new members. I was really upset after finding out the deeper truths about Mormon doctrine and at that point I wasn't sure if I even believed in God. That video as well as other videos of Jeff's really helped bring me to Christianity and realize that just because the Mormon church was false, it did not mean that Jesus wasn't real. I have shared the video with a few of my Mormon friends when they have asked what my reasons for coming out of the religion are. It is a great video with a gentle and non-confrontational approach. :)

Thank you for the video! You both are such a blessing to me! I would love to see a formal debate between you guys and Mr. Boylan. Wonder if that could happen ;)

I really want to thank you guys for helping me so much in leaving Mormonism. I was born into the religion had no choice. My grandfather was not Mormon and we talked about the Bible a lot and he was so against Mormonism and wanted me to leave the church as a child. He would sneak me away to a Baptist Church. Well since I've been watching you guys and explaining their twisted concept of the gospels and salvation and diving into the Bible. I've become a Christian became a Minister and trying to help my Mormon friends come to the correct Jesus our sovereign Lord and Savior.. thank you Apologia 🙏❤️

Jeff's beard looks like it's trimmed in the style of the Babylonian sculptures. 😝😂😊

It's lightly touched on in this discussion, but it's true that many followers of various religions are furthering themselves from solid doctrine within their faith. It's evident in many of the recorded discussions between Durbin and the Mormons he witnesses to. The next generation of religious/spiritual adherents is gradually and consistently leaning toward a one world religion. Truth is relative/experience is truth/truth evolves. It's good I think, to bring people back to what the original writings of their religion, but it's important to recognize that according to the new relative evolving truth perspective people can be "Mormon" and still reject doctrine, just as professing "Christians" do with Biblical truths. This looney goosey approach to truth is so difficult to witness to. People tout it as love and acceptance and contrastly to adhere to absolute truth is seen as hateful. I really appreciate the clarification on Biblical truths here (because it is powerful, it's the Word of God). But I suppose the point I'm poorly getting to is that I'd like to see more on how to address this waffling "new spirituality" as it shows it's face within Mormonism (or any other religion).

Thank you guys for putting this video together. Great points. I love the Ignatius quote. What are the new Mormon publications that you referenced that are going into more archival information about the Mormon church and Joseph Smith?

I love that he wrote that article and linked to your video.  There are so many more Mormons being exposed to your original video on Mormonism, and now he's got a link to this one too!  spreading the gospel as he tries to condemn it!

Excellent all the way around. To hear Dr White mention BBS reminds me of my own launching point in the mid '90s, Usenet newsgroups. A different time!

It’s now 2021 and I’ve been in discussion with Mormon missionaries and other member’s of the church and this is still the claim “we are Christians to” word for word what they still said
