Would you consider this?

WHAT BROUGHT ME TO YOUTUBE: I worked at Goldman Sachs, in Private Equity, and built up a $100M holding company. But after being in Wall Street for so long, I got tired of managing hundreds of millions for the rich. Investing was for the few not the many. F that. You all are the reason I do this. We as a society need to get rich together. My mission is to create 100,000 business owners, I hope you’re one.

This must be true with any martial arts or competitive sports. Discipline and repetition.

Growing up I never did amazing in school. Even was suspended and kicked out of high school for a semester. I was a troubled kid. In my last year of HS I started wrestling and eventually started training Jitz. This changed my life forever. Fast forward to today I have a masters in Biomedical Sciences and about to start my first year of medical school. I attribute a lot of my accomplishments to wrestling and jitz. It taught me hard work, determination and most importantly gave me a sense of purpose.

Codie, my young son is on the autism spectrum. He would tend to freak out if I held on to him too long, so I simply started putting him in basic Brazilian jiu-jitsu and wrestling holds, where he was literally trapped... and then, AFTER he would start to freak out, slowly explain to him HOW to get out. Then AWARD him for doing a good job. Now, he stops me in whatever I'm doing, at least two or three times a day, just to wrestle.

My daughter took to both basic BJJ mechanics AND striking way faster, (her mommy is a badass who trained in Muay Thai), and she now is literally one of the smartest American kids I've run across. She reads facts books because they are interesting to her. Facts only matter to kids who WANT to accept reality.

Getting kids over the panic of a lack of control (no one has a prayer of whipping their BJJ coach until they are REALLY deep into training), while also helping them understand that a deeper knowledge of the mechanics of a situation can help you take on major challenges... while panicking and crying about it just makes you lose even worse.

Life is hard enough. Kids are mean enough. We don't have to bubble wrap the world. We have to love our kids enough to train them to calm down and handle the insanity or even thrive in it. I gave my kids a very simple mantra: "Don't panic. Figure it out."

I'm sure it applies to any sport.

Im argentinian and being a boxer since I was 8 years old and always been decent on soccer field. That put me always on academic advantage. I remember that my last year almost didn't attend last semester because I was competing on boxing, soccer, racquetball and athletism and I passed with excellent grades. That brought me to Californla with a full scholarship...❤

It's not 'BJJ', it's ANY Jui Jitisu.
And even then, it probably applies to ALL martial arts.
If you're minded to want to learn these skills you have to 'step into a different world', obey someone else's rules, and focus.
You will be physically stretched, you will be learning protocols and even new (foreign) terms. E.g. Rei, Gi, tatami.

This probably applies to many voluntary after-school activities, with the obvious caveat, except when patents aren't using it for daycare.
If kids/people are choosing to learn they'll get multiple benefits from it.

Karate does that too, any self defense practice. Katas or movement routines are good too thats why dancing is helpful too.

I learned self control during high school. Martial Arts just helped me learn how to fight and self defense lol

Increased self control by double digits? How does this even make sense? What kind of measurement is this?
What is your self control number?

Something I loved deciding to do as a kid and teen was taekwondo and judo. Best thing I feel anyone really can do is a martial arts. It's fitness and mental discipline and wellbeing all rolled into one

Double digits? So, 10%? It seems to me that something like self-control would be hard to measure with that kind of precision. Not knocking jiu-jitsu. I did it for 5 years myself, but I'm definitely not self-disciplined.

This is applicable for any combat sports. Old news to those who take combat seriously

I’d say all exercise that has a level of hard to it done regularly does this. It pushes your mind as much as your body. And all exercise that produces results is based off of discipline 💯. Love the Jiu Jitsu idea in all case 😍

I do BJJ.. and it's the best time I've ever spent..a great way to stay in shape while learning self defense and gaining confidence...it teaches you how to deal with intense pressure while staying calm...so I agree with what you said 💯😎💪

Double digits can mean 10% or 90%. Big difference and would lead me to believe any sport that requires effort and discipline has this effect
