Google Should Retract These New Top Level Domains

The creation of new top level domains is basically just a money grab but sometimes these domains are a really bad idea like the new .zip and .mov domains that were proposed and are now in use thanks to Google

It is not only companies that make money from TLDs, Micronesia has the fm domain that makes them a ton of money

You'd think, right? That a company like Google wouldn't make such a monumentally stupid mistake like creating the '.zip' domain.

Next up is .exe .msi .bat .bin .deb .rpm extension. That could really start to wreak havoc amongst systems.

One additional problem.. if you are trying to help somebody, some algorithms - like here on YT - think you are sending URLs and shadowban you for naming file names.

.ZIP domains were a mistake. I blocked all .zip and .mov domains from our 365 exchange.

This is ridiculous, whoever rightfully pointed out that it's dumb must be shouting "I told you so!"
at the top of their lungs, I feel bad for them. First the ICANN restricting some TLDs to regular people,
and now this. Good lord, web standards have long since become suggestions thanks to MS and Google

Rather than making it as dangerous, outright blocking .zip tlds in a browser is totally reasonable.

PKZIP was released in 1989, QuickTime Media Player in 1991, so a lot more than 15 years ago.

ON the old family Win95 PC there was an old "MS-DOS Application" of unknown purpose but we kept it because it was probably there for a reason, even though it would just crash if you ran it. Relatively recently I went back and decided to investigate what it was. I opened it up in Notepad to look for any identifying strings and noticed a telltale "BM" magic string at the beginning. It opened up perfectly in Paint and it turns out a much-younger me was trying to create a website or something. Not knowing anything about how any of it worked, I had made a BMP file but with a COM extension.

I don't think Google should be allowed to create or recommend top level domains - they have their evil "fingers in too many pies these days". Google is a monopoly, it needs to be broken up.
