Crazy Rich Asians - Honor and shame

Eleanor states that Rachel is not of their kind and therefore not fit to marry her son. Identifying her as American, she boxes her into what she thinks is a typical American without knowing Rachel fully. Rachel, however, respectfully stands up to her by honoring Nicks relationship with his family. By doing this she claims her innocence through honoring them.
