The Great Scottish Bake Off 2016 Final saw the best school bakers from across Scotland come together to compete for the title on the 23rd of November 2016 at City of Glasgow College.
To be in with a chance of winning, school cooks and caterers resident in Scotland and working within education had to create and submit a recipe that serves 12 along with an image of the finished bake and 50 words on what makes it the best bake. The finalists were judged by National Chair from ASSIST Alistair McIntyre, the Head Boy & Head Girl from Busby Primary School, Lynsey Gordon from Scotland Excel and Paul Wright, Business Development Chef at Unilever Food Solutions.
The school bakers also had to ensure that their bakes met the entry requirements to enter into the competition which helped to ensure that the bakes were in line with health and nutrition guidelines in Scottish schools.
The winner of The Great Scottish Bake Off was Sheila Clyne from Burnfoot Community School in the Scottish Borders who presented a bake of Autumn Fruit Muffins!

Our aim at Scottish School Meals is to provide information on the meals service across Scotland and to create a discussion about the innovative ideas that will help shape the services in the future. We will encourage healthier lifestyles through education, we organise events and activities with schools all over the country to get children and young adults more involved and we will work with businesses to bring new and healthy products into the school meals service.

The Great Scottish Bake Off was sponsored by Unilever Food Solutions.
