The city I grew up in was halfway between a SAC base and a Cold War defense plant. Every five years the newspaper published a map of the city with targets centered on the base and the plant with concentric circles of total destruction, 50% destruction, 30%, etc. where I lived was an overlap between the two sets of total destruction circles. I always thought “Well, if we get hit I’ll never know it.” The cake with concentric circles of destruction gave me a real laugh. The poor lady is so frazzled she’s baking a cake about it and you understand her distress.
