I was super happy learning this information at 15 years old and realizing I can make bongs out of a soda bottle, a hollowed out bic pen for the downstem, and my metal pipe that had a mouthpiece that fit right into the bic pen down stem. I would just pull the pipe away to clear it. I'm 41 now and bongs have been my main smoking tool every since.

While I’ll never actually smoke weed, or anything, in my life, just learning how something works made me happy. It’s such a simple concept, yet somehow so elegant in execution. All done through pressure and air displacement.

We actually use two pieces! A down stem and a bowl! The reason for it is that removing the whole down stem makes it easier to break (they’re very fragile) while a bowl is more durable. I use 14 mm pieces but some people use 18 mm.

Ma first bong ever was a water bottle cut out sharpie and tin foil and they don’t sound great but when ur fourteen it works I got really advanced at makeing them my favorites being outta mouth wash bottles because they was more rugged and I could make a longer stem
